Science Central Announces Return of High Rail Bike Exhibit

During today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, Science Central Executive Director Madee Mikulski announced plans to bring back the High Rail Bike through a grassroots fundraising campaign kicking off this summer. The announcement came during the ribbon-cutting for the Planetarium. The High Rail Bike was one of the original Science Central attractions when the museum opened in 1995 but was retired in 2023, largely because key components were no longer being produced. The bike is still physically in the museum, but the stairs to the platform are blocked by other exhibits, and a sign states the attraction remains permanently closed. Mikulski shared, “I don’t know about everybody else, but when I was a kid, it was like, we’re going to be brave and ride the bike at Science Central.” She added that in her seven months at the museum, she’s almost daily been asked, “Are you bringing back the bike?” and expressed her excitement about its return so that future generations can experience one of Science Central’s most beloved features.
